About Maggie Bruce's Guide

This is a totally independent guide comprising reviews of Scotland's Coffee Shops and Tea Rooms.

Currently there are over 60 reviews on the website and it is intended to add to this number every month.

The Guide specifically excludes international chains such as Starbucks and Costa Coffee on the grounds that readers will already be familiar with these branded coffee shops. Instead the Guide concentrates on a diverse range of mainly independent coffee shops and tearooms, though included in this guide are a NTS Café and a Church of Scotland Coffee shop.

A number of these reviews are of restaurants and or wine bars which at certain times of the day may offer menus consistent with a coffee shop or tearoom. Please note that in these cases we have reviewed these establishments primarily on these menus rather than as a restaurant or wine bar.

The Guide publishes opening times in good faith. However for coffee shops and tearooms outside the main urban areas and particularly out of season actual opening dates and times may vary from those published. Therefore it is suggested that readers phone in advance to confirm opening times on a particular day.
