Lynda recommends Mona's of Muckart in Muckart, Dollar. She says the premises are clean and tidy, the staff pleasant and the baking excellent especially the Victoria sponge.

Fin recommends Picnic in the High Street in South Queensferry.  Also Victoria's Cafe in Stirling and the cafe on the top floor of the Sports shop in Callender.

We have heard from John that there's a wonderful tearoom (his words) called The Potting Shed, between Aviemore and Kincraig on the B9152. It is attached to Jack Drake's Alpine Nursery at Inshriach. It's basic, rustic and quirky but comfortable. From the windows of the observatory you can watch innumerable birds feeding. Red squirrels and even pine martins have been seen. He especially recommends the Scandinavian type cakes which ooze with fruit and cream. Sounds good. When we're up there we'll be  visiting!  www.drakesalpines.com/potting.htm

Casey writes  that Kathellan, just north of the Forth Road bridge, off the M90, is bringing in soft furnishings and plants to the restaurant area. Looking forward to seeing it.

Malcolm tellsme about the cafe/coffee shop attached to the Aberlour Hotel Speyside. He says it serves Scottish fare, well cooked at reasonable prices.
