This is a real neighbourhood coffee shop and meeting place. It caters for a complete cross section including retired Morningside ladies and gentlemen, young mums and babies, students and office workers.
On entering there is an immediate feeling of warmth and welcome. The walls are a deep red and the furniture a dark brown. Prints of the colourists adorn one room and the other displays local artists' work, which is for sale. Tables are also available outside, though this is next to a very busy main thoroughfare. One outside wall folds back completely, when the weather allows, to give it a very continental feel.
Breakfast, be it a snack like scrambled eggs on toast or the full Monty, is available all day until 5pm. There are also salads, light snacks, sandwiches, specials and a large cake selection.
It is licensed.
Why would I go there? Everything a coffee shop should be.
Any Negatives? When school finishes it is over run with 'little people' – but maybe you like this!
Before or After:
1. The Bruntsfield Links and the Meadows are nearby for a walk or a game of putting.
2. There are also many delightful small, specialist shops for you to wander through.
