The Falls of Feugh are less than a mile south of Banchory. Here, the River Feugh thunders down over rocks while the salmon do their level best to swim up it, a truly awesome sight. The setting alone deserves a special tearoom and the Falls of Feugh Tearoom delivers, although in a far softer and more delicate manner.
It is set on the banks of the River Feugh just east of the Falls, a picturesque cottage, surrounded by trees, which has been renovated to a high standard. Flowers abound both inside and out, and while the seating area at the front is reminiscent of an old cottage garden, the rear offers a raised patio with contrastingly modern furniture, overlooking the River Feugh.
Inside you are greeted with light and freshness. French windows provide extra illumination and create a feeling of bringing the outside in. There is a strawberry theme reflected by curtains, crockery and wall decorations alike. Tables have fine checked, pink and white cloths with glass tops and a central fire is topped with a copper canopy.
Home made cakes, oven and griddle scones with strawberry and pink champagne jam and cream, sandwiches, light meals, daily specials and much more is offered. At the back of the menu is a list of suppliers, who are all from Aberdeenshire.
Why should I go there? Brand new old world charm
