The Clive Ramsay Café spills onto the pavement under dark blue canopies. Patio heaters and potted plants complement the dark blue and silver tables and chairs. The slogan "Sexy Food" is emblazoned across the Café windows. This is more Med than Bridge of Allan.

Clive Ramsay opened his award winning Deli in 1982, the popular Café next door coming 20 years later. Inside the décor is modern and minimalist with hints of Art Deco in the lighting and elsewhere. A large glass mirror is set behind the curved dark brown counter. The Downstairs Café area is at the back.

Breakfast is served between 8.00 & 11.30 and includes Ramsay's Bacon Sandwich, pancakes, free range eggs on toast or bagels, fruit & scrambled eggs.

There are Croissants, Danish pastries and scones. Cappuccino, expresso, latte, mocha, hot chocolate and a choice of teas (including Moroccan Mint) are the hot drinks on offer. The coffee is from Bei and Nannini beans from Tuscany.

A selection of half a dozen interesting multi-filled sandwiches is served between 11.30 and 16.00. A typical sandwich is Spicy vegetable with Swiss cheese, red onion, relish and cucumber with a lightly spiced Marissa mayonnaise on a granary bap. Soups include roasted pumpkin. You just know there is a Deli next door! Main courses served from 12.00 through to last orders include meat, vegetarian, fish & pasta.

The Café is licensed, children have their own menu, and becomes a Restaurant after 5, with a Pre-theatre menu between 5 and 7 and Dinner from 7 till late.

Why would I go there?  Trendy Café in the perhaps unlikely setting of Bridge of Allan.

Any Negatives?  Gets busy – you may have to queue.

Before or After:
1. Shop at the Clive Ramsay Deli next door
2. Walking along the Allan Water, which winds through the town – try the Centenary Walk.
3. Visit Dunblane Cathedral (4 miles by car).
