Tayvallich Coffee Shop

They say that location is all and the Tayvallich Coffee Shop’s position on the banks of Loch Sween has a position that offers views you dream of - an uninterrupted panorama of yachts bobbing in the immediate foreground, long stretches of water, forested lower slopes and rocky peaks in the distance.

The coffee shop is long and narrow with every table beside a window offering these fantastic views across the loch. On the walls are art works including prints of the works of John Lowrie Morrison a resident of the area who presented them to the owner when she first opened. In the background Radio 1 was playing – slightly off station.

The coffee shop is at the back of the local and only shop.

The menu offers toasties, sausage rolls, scotch pies, filled rolls, homemade scones cakes and traybakes. There is also a soup of the day, filling of the day and a main course special.  Various drinks and excellent coffee are also available.

I’ve always been told that nice girls love a sailor. Well, there’s a notice saying that sailors are welcome there and that there are shower facilities! So, what are you waiting for?

Why should I go there? Very restful sitting with a coffee inside or out enjoying the vista.

Any negatives? I've enjoyed better baking but we were there in mid winter. With greater turnover as the season progresses this aspect should improve.

Before or After:
1. A walk in the village
2. Drive or walk over to Carsaig, only a mile away and see Jura.
3. There are many designated walks in the woodland along the road down to Tayvallich. These are as long or as short as you would wish.
