North west of Tobermory, at the end of 4 miles of twisting, single track
road, Glengorm Coffee Shop is well worth the journey. Farm buildings have been renovated to a high standard, with lots of windows. Hanging baskets and a sunny aspect make it an attractive place to sit outside facing the banks of rhododendron. Inside it is as much a deli as a coffee shop.

Everything is home-made using local ingredients and offered in generous portions. Salads and sandwiches feature local cheeses, Croig crab, Tobermory trout and local prawns. Hot chocolate is Italian style, thick and bitter. Cakes include tiffin, lemon and coconut slice, fruit cake and millionaire’s shortbread. A children’s menu includes burgers, sausage and mash or small sandwiches. If you are hungry there is also soup eg asparagus and broadbean or lightly curried butternut squash and coconut or something more substantial - tartlet of haggis with root vegetable mash, beef pies, pasta and lots more.

Starfish Ceramics also share the premises and has a resident potter. Here you have an opportunity to paint your own pot.
Above is a gallery exhibiting the work of local artists.

It is part of the Green Tourism Scheme.

Why would I go there? Excellent food and wonderful views a short distance away.

Any Negatives? The road seems to go on for ever.

Before or After
1. Cross the bridge in front of the coffee shop and a 35minute walk takes you to the Bathing Pool and also gives you wonderful views across to Ardnamurchan, Coll and the Outer Hebrides in the far distance.

2. A path to your right takes you down to Flat Rock and Jubilee Seat only 15 minutes away.

3. Maps and information on longer walks, including one to an extinct volcano, are available at the coffee shop
